Teachers at Blackhawk have implemented a cross-curricular approach to the GPP students across Science (AP Environmental Science), Technology (TSA), English (Creative Writing), Art (Graphic Design), and Math (Algebra) disciplines will be working to solve various issues facing the nuclear power industry.
The goal of our project is connecting local schools to local industries. Through this partnership students are exposed to real problems facing real companies. Students will utilize their skills and abilities in cooperation with professionals in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) fields to find solutions.
This project has developed a partnership with First Energy and the nearby Beaver Valley Power Station. An inside look into Nuclear Energy and how it supplies electricity as well as challenges facing the industry. This project provides students with a unique problem solving experience.
Project and Partnership Interests
Blackhawk put a unique twist to focus STEAM by adding Art and incorporating English to the acronym. Whether is STEM, STEAM, or STEEAM, the goal is simple - creating a unique learning experience connecting students to real world problems.
